About Bloom Studios

Bloom's lobby statueIn case you’ve never been “in Bloom” to see for yourself, this is NOT your typical salon and spa. Yes, we have salons and, yes, we have spa services (among many others). But Bloom Studios is so much more than what you might be expecting. “Salon and spa” may be the easiest way to describe us to your friends, but we want to plant three different words in your mind that identify who and what we are…

“Wellness, Beauty, Community”

Bloom Studios is so much more than just the place you go to when you want your hair cut, a massage, a workout, a manicure or any of the other services we offer.

It’s the place where you can spend hours reading your favorite book in a rocking chair on one of our patios; grab a coffee at the café and hang out upstairs in our free Wi-Fi lounge; or bring your friends for your next day out—and actually spend the whole day out.

At what point did your full day to pamper yourself become a meager hour and a half, in-and-out visit to a strip mall?

Bloom Studios is the place where, member or not, you can spend your time and not have to spend your money. Why should that be so revolutionary for an industry that’s supposed to be about letting go and not worrying about the clock?

Come visit us and you’ll see that we take community seriously. You’ll see that this is just as much your place as it is ours.

The goal for our business is to be your source for all things “wellness, beauty and community.” What set this goal in the first place was the facility. At 24,000 square feet, there just isn’t anything else like it! But what lets us actually reach our goal is the amazing and diverse group of independent professionals working inside our facility.

Why We’re Different

Every one of the professionals you find at Bloom Studios is independent. That means that the money you pay for your service or treatment goes directly to that professional. At other places, the professional often keeps less than 40% of what is paid for the services they provide. The spa keeps the rest. This may not seem like a big deal to you, but think about it.  Wouldn’t you rather know that 100% of what you pay is going straight to the professional who has taken such great care of you?

Working with independent professionals has its own benefits for you as the client. Since each of them is on their own time, they have the freedom to make sure they’re giving quality, personable service. After all, it’s their business. What Bloom Studios does is provides the best possible environment for the professional to work in and for their clients to enjoy.

Bloom Studios is far from any other type of salon studio.  While each professional is running their own business, they are also each bought into the idea of working together as a team with the other professionals.  This is what enables Bloom Studios to offer such a great membership program!  You save money on your services (among many other benefits).  The professionals get more business.  And Bloom is able to maintain a stable, community-minded environment!

About The Owners

Owners, Kyle and Shannon JohnsonShannon Johnson and her brother, Kyle, were both born in Arizona. Their family soon relocated to North Carolina, which was where they lived until Shannon decided to become a licensed massage therapist and move back to Arizona in order to start her own practice. Meanwhile, Kyle stayed in North Carolina to finish earning his degree in Strategic Communications at Elon University.

Then, in September of 2009, Shannon and Kyle were thrown a life-altering curveball. Their father, Richard Johnson, was suddenly diagnosed with metastatic melanoma and was given, at best, six months to live.  It fell to them to rearrange their priorities and take care of their bachelor father through his illness.  Shannon went back to North Carolina and she and Kyle worked together in ways they never thought they would need to.  In the end, though, it was their father’s tremendous Christian faith that brought Shannon and Kyle closer together.

With traditional cancer treatments offering just weeks to Richard’s life for the trade-off of much more pain, money and stress, Richard decided to simply make a bucket list instead.  His goal was to spend the remainder of his time making special memories with his children. October, November and the beginning of December was filled with adventures like skydiving, a cruise and getting his first tattoo but also with sentiment like going through old pictures and hosting dinner parties for work friends. Richard passed away on New Year’s Day, 2010- just three months after his initial diagnosis, but not before building a wonderful legacy for Shannon and Kyle to hold onto. More than the absence of their father, there was something different about their relationship after that. Richard’s faith had set a light to his children’s paths that wasn’t there before and Shannon and Kyle were shown a new perspective on family, community and life in general.

Immediately upon Kyle’s graduation five months later, he was inspired by his father to join a missionary organization as they circum-navigated the globe for 11 months of service. It was while he was serving that Shannon began to allow her passion for the wellness and beauty industry to develop the concept of Bloom Studios.  For Shannon, Bloom Studios was a chance to create her dream job for other wellness and beauty professionals.  And so, with the opportunity to work together again, Kyle returned home and they prayerfully invested what their father taught and left them into getting Bloom Studios started.

The success that Bloom Studios is blessed with will support a non-profit organization in Richard Johnson’s memory.  Learn more about
